Project Summary
The project focuses on developing and validating a flexible and adaptive integrated solution encompassing different innovative technologies and optimized strategies for both the cooling of the power-block and the cleaning of the solar field optical surfaces, in order to save water while maintaining the overall efficiency of CSP plants.

ATYCOS’ Role
CIEMAT explores the feasibility of using a latent thermal storage system which delays the day-time power exhaust heat to night time, when ambient conditions are much more favourable.

Optimization of cooling strategy with a storage system (different approaches for the storage system are under study); innovative cooling devices hybridized dry/wet cooling system and adiabatic versatile cooler; soiling barriers both external and by antisoiling or self-cleaning coatings; optimization of cleaning strategy and devices.
